Obituary of Peter Apolinary Materkowski
Peter A Materkowski, 97, of Peabody, died Tuesday morning at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Jane J. (Mizioch) Materkowski with whom he shared over 40 years of marriage.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Apolinary and Maria Materkowski; he was a lifelong resident of Peabody and attended Peabody Schools. He was employed with Eastman Gelatine for over 13 years before he retired.
He was a long time member of St. Michael’s Hall in Peabody for over 74 years and also enjoyed gardening and working around the yard.
Peter is survived by his son Steven and his wife Julie Materkowski of Amesbury, his three daughters, Vicky Materkowski of Peabody and Maryann Stasinos and Joan Slattery, both of Danvers, his dear special friend, Lorraine Gerniglia of Danvers, his five beloved grandchildren, Robin Sullivan, James, Crystal, Angela, and Michael Materkowski, and by his two great grandchildren, Jane Murphy and Olivia Materkowski. He was predeceased by his siblings, Frank and Victoria Materkowski.
His funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, Church St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
