Obituary of Charles Theodorakopoulos

Charles Theodorakopoulos, 73, of Lynn, MA died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington, MA after a short illness. He was the husband of Eleni (Polemenakos) Theodorakopoulos with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Affectionately known as “Uncle Charlie”, he was born in Kalamata Greece on August 6, 1940, the son of Anastasia (Yiokas) and the late John Theodorakopoulos and came to Lynn at the age of 15 and has been a resident here for the past 58 years. He was an entrepreneur and first operated the Custom Dress Manufacturing Company in Lynn that distributed throughout New England. Later he operated the C & P Auto Sales on Central Ave., Lynn for nearly 40 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed watching the Honeymooners with Jackie Gleason, the wrestling matches on TV and lounging in his special garage with a fireplace and smoking his cigars. But his favorite time was spent being with his family. He is survived by his wife, Eleni, of Lynn, his mother, Anastasia of Seneca, S.C., a son and daughter-in-law, John and Tracy Theodorakopoulos of Groveland, two daughters and sons-in-law, Anastasia “Tess” and Paul Sperounes and Konstantina “Connie” and Bruce Irving all of Swampscott, MA, his siblings and their spouses, Peter and Sarah Kopoulos of No Conway, NH, Bill and Jenny Kopoulos of Lynn, MA, Eva Tempenis of Seneca, SC, his seven cherished grandchildren, Michael and Kristina Sperounes and Bella, Kula and Gianna Irving all of Swampscott and Alicia and Anthony Theodorakopoulos of Groveland and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Christos Kopoulos who died two weeks ago A visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the funeral Home followed by Services in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 54 so. Common St., Lynn, MA. At 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn, MA. As expressions of sympathy, the family asks that you consider doing an act of kindness in his memory.
