Obituary of Brian J. Mitchell

Brian J. Mitchell, 59, of South Peabody and formerly of Beverly, died Monday evening at the Lahey Medical Clinic in Burlington after a short illness. He was the husband of Debra (Larrabee) Mitchell with whom he shared 37 years of marriage. He was born in Peabody on March 4, 1955, the son of Margaret (O’Neil) Mitchell of Peabody and the late Lawrence Mitchell and was a graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School and Wentworth Institute of Boston. He had resided in Beverly for 30 years before moving back to Peabody a year ago. Brian had been employed with Osram Sylvania for 37 years as an electrical Engineer working in the plants in Ipswich, Danvers and Manchester, NH prior to his retirement last year. He was an avid fisherman an enjoyed fishing out of Gloucester and the NorthShore. He also liked to take nature walks especially in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park in Maine and the Freedom trial in Boston. He was very handy around his home doing projects and remodeling, but his most cherished time was spent sharing with his family which was the love of his life and being there for them. He is survived by his wife Debra and his mother, Margaret Mitchell, his children, Brian J. Mitchell and his wife Marina of Warwick, RI, his daughter, Katie Mitchell and her fiance, Marc Predka of Beverly, a brother and sister-in-law, William and Laurie Mitchell of Peabody,, five sisters, Linda Hames of Peabody, Elizabeth and her husband Edward Hoffman of Lady Lake, FL, Patricia DiMarzo of No. Andover, Maureen and her husband Dave Brunbaugh of Eden Prairie, MN and Jane Nordstrom of Ft. Myers, FL, his two cherished grandchildren, Vivian and Dante Mitchell of Warwick, RI and many nieces , nephews ,cousins and friends. He was the brother of the late Lauren Mitchell. A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Jude Children’s research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 in his memory.
