Obituary of Luigi Actis

Luigi Actis, 92, of Peabody died early Wednesday morning at the Pilgrim House Nursing home in Peabody after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Marie Gertrude (Kelley) Actis. He was born in Sagamore, MA on July 17, 1921, the son of the late John and Antonia (Piolotia) Actis and had resided most of his life in Peabody. He had been employed in the Leather Industry in Peabody for 30 years and later was a truck driver for Holden Bottled Gas Co., Peabody prior to his retirement in 1983.. A veteran of WW II, he served with the US Army Air Corps prior to his discharge in 1945. Luigi had been very active in the Peabody community and was a member serving on many committees of the Italian American Club of Peabody. He was also a member of the Leo Council # 508 of the Knights of Columbus, the Second Corps Cadets and the Lugo Caravan Alhambra Peabody Chapter. He also enjoyed going fishing in the lakes and ponds. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Kathie Actis and Thomas and Kathy Actis all of The Villages of Florida, Michael and Cathy Actis of Peabody and Stephen and Claire Actis of Nashua, NH, nine grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late John and Timothy Actis, and the brother of the late Angelo Actis, Lena Cares and Frances Dolan. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, So. Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
