Obituary of Barbara (Brooks) Connor

Barbara (Brooks) Connor, 96, of Peabody and formerly of Orleans and Somerville, passed away one day short of her 97th birthday on Tuesday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers with her family by her side following a brief illness. Born in Needham, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Gertrude (Farrand) Brooks. She was raised and educated in Needham and was a graduate of Needham High School, class of 1934. Barbara was employed for many years as a secretary at the American Machine Foundry and later at the Dow Chemical Company before she retired many years ago. While at Dow Chemical, she was a member of the Chemical Club and later she was also a member of several knitting and sewing clubs as well. She also enjoyed cooking for her family. She is survived by her son, William and his wife Jacquelyn Connor of Haverhill, her two daughters, Patricia and her husband William Metz of Indiana and Brenda and her husband Peter Russo of NJ, her brother George Brooks of FL, and also by eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings, Phil and Franklin Brooks, Dorothy LaPointe, and Ruth Russo. A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were made by the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.
