Obituary of Thomas Richard Middleton

Thomas R.Middleton, 75, of West Peabody, died Thursday evening at his home surrounded by his family after a 3 month illness. He was the husband of Grace Margaret (Hyson) Middleton with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. He was born in Boston on December 18, 1930, the son of the late James E. and Helen (Meehan) Middleton and was raised in Dorchester before moving to West Peabody 41 years ago. He was a graduate of Boston College and then entered the US Army serving in the Korean war from 1953 until his discharge in 1956. He then stared working as a research technician at Ledgemont Laboratories in Lexington and later at Osram / Sylvania in Danvers for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1992. He had been a member of the Kings and Queens team of the Osram/Sylvania bowling team for many years. He also enjoyed swimming, skating and cruising. Surviving him besides his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, James Ellis and Misako Middleton of Kobe, Japan, two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol Ann and Tsukasa Matsubara of Kobe, Japan and Patricia Marie Middleton of West Peabody; two grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn Middleton of West Peabody and Takumi James Matsubara of Kobe, Japan. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM in St. Adelaide’ s Church, Lowell St., West Peabody. Inurnment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, West Peabody.
