Obituary of Dorothy T. "Dot" (Cochrane) Harrington

Dorothy “Dot” Harrington, formerly of Lynnfield, died on July 4, 2014 at the Tidd Home in Woburn. Born in Boston on August 17, 1924, the second daughter of the late Edward P. Cochrane and the late Josephine (Pisani) Cochrane of South Weymouth, Dorothy was raised in East Boston and graduated Fitton High School Class of 1941 with Honors. During World War II she was an office worker at the General Electric Riverworks Plant. On October 18, 1947 Dorothy married Ensign George T. Harrington, a Naval aviator, after his return from the South Pacific. Dorothy and George (deceased Dec 17, 1998) are survived by their 3 children and their spouses; Marilyn Harrington of Ashburn, VA, John Harrington and Deborah Marston of Gloucester and Kevin Harrington and Kandy (DiVitto) Harrington of Ipswich. Dorothy also leaves her younger sister Edwina (Cochrane) Whitney, her husband Gerald Whitney of Abington and their daughter Patricia Whitney. She was predeceased by her elder sister Elizabeth Cochrane. Dorothys’ family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, MA. Her Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday July 9th at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The MGH Fund, PO Box 415062, Boston, MA 02241-5062 or to the Lahey Clinic Foundation, 41 Mall Rd Burlington, MA 01805. Burial to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield.
