Obituary of Robert J. Turner

Robert J. Turner LYNN—Robert J. Turner, 60, died unexpectedly on Friday July 4, 2014 at his home, following an extended illness. Born in Lynn, he was the son of Joanne (Perry) Turner of Peabody and the late Eldon “Sonny” Turner of Lynn. He grew up in Peabody where he attended schools, then graduated from Lynn Tech Culinary Institute. Mr. Turner worked for many years as the Pastry Chef for the Towne Lynne House in Peabody/Lynnfield on Route 1. He later worked with the King’s Grant in Danvers. He was honored by receiving an award from the Boston Globe for baking the pecan rolls that so many enjoyed. When not working, he enjoyed traveling on cruise ships where he would love to discuss and share techniques with the culinary staff. He was thrilled to sail on the SS France and Queen Elizabeth Ships. He always enjoyed helping people, especially those whose lives were troubled. He will be remembered by family and friends as a man not of great wealth, but he loved greatly with a large heart. He is survived by his mother Joanne (Perry) Turner of Peabody; two sisters Nancy Turner Bonfiglio of Peabody and Patricia Turner-Logue of Salem; two brothers James Turner and David Turner, both of Peabody; two aunts, Nancy McGaughy of Lynn and Mae Doherty of FL, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Friday July 11, 2014 at 1 PM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 – 8 P.M. Cremation will take place after the Funeral Service.
