Obituary of Leanora M. (Aucella) Atkinson

Leanora (Aucella) Atkinson, 84, of Peabody died Tuesday at her residence with her family at her side after a lengthy illness. She was the devoted wife of 63 years to James E. Atkinson Jr. She was born in Charlestown, MA on September 3, 1929, the daughter of the late Philip and Jennie (Lupo) Aucella and had resided in Saugus where she graduated from Saugus High School. She later lived in Stoneham before moving to Peabody 59 years ago. Leanora was a loving mother who stayed at home to raise her daughters. She enjoyed going camping in New Hampshire and taking cruises and traveling to Italy. She also liked to sew different outfits for her family. She is survived by her husband, James, of Peabody, her three daughters, Joanne Andrews of Branford, Ct., Corinne Corsino and her husband Louis and Deborah Silvia and her husband Michael all of North Reading, her six cherished grandchildren, Christopher Andrews, Jennifer Ferguson, Louis Corsino III and Candice Corsino and Michael and Joshua Silvia, a great granddaughter, Alyssa Corsino, a sister, Lorraine Burr of Stoneham and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Thomas Aucella Sr. and Elvera “Chickie” Aucella. A visitation will be held on Friday from 5-8 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Saturday from the Funeral home at 9:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Those who prefer may make donations to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 in her memory.
