Obituary of Jeremiah Ford

Jeremiah Ford, 85 of Peabody died early Tuesday morning at the Pilgrim House Nursing Home, Peabody after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Marie (Gillis) Ford and later the late Ellie (Almeida) Ford. He was born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada on June 1, 1929, the son of the late Edward “Ned” and Helen (Whiting) Ford and was raised there for 20 years before moving the Massachusetts. He had been a chef for the Naval personnel at the FargoBuilding in South Boston and later was a chef at the Capeway Manor in Brockton prior to his retirement. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Army. Following his retirement, he wintered in Brandenton, Florida. He enjoyed playing hockey in his earlier years. He is survived by two sons, John Ford of Peabody and Edward Ford of Bradenton, Fl, and his siblings, James “Bunny” Ford of Pembroke, MA, Hoyles Ford , David “Rocky” Ford, Glen Ford, Frances Sudworth, Dolores Kelloway and Alice Bennett all of Glace Bay, N.S. Canada and a granddaughter, Alexandra Ford and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Archid, Syd, Paul and Art Ford. A Visitation will be held on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
