Obituary of Fred Wayland Binford Jr.

Fred Wayland Binford Jr., 74, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 following many serious medical issues. He was the loving husband of Joan (Davis) Binford with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Fred was born in Westerly, Rhode Island, the son of the late Fred W. and Marjorie (Poyton) Binford and was predeceased by his sister, Meredith Joy Burgess and his son, Timothy Russell Binford. He had served in the US Coast Guard for 4 years and was stationed at Egg Rock in Bar Harbor, Maine prior to his discharge in 1962. Fred had worked in the automotive industry for W.W. Britton's Inc. in Beverly and later at Kelly Jeep and Chrysler of Lynnfield prior to his retirement 9 years ago. He enjoyed camping with his family and friends for many years. He and his wife Joan made many yearly trips to a favorite Christian Retreat resort in Bermuda with their friends. They also enjoyed their trips to New Jersey and meeting their close friends. He had been an active member of the West Congregational Church in Peabody. He enjoyed traveling and visiting lighthouses of New England, tending to his garden and living by the water. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Sandra and her husband Eric Warren of Nahant, five grandchildren, Joseph, Dean and Eva Warren and Kaitlyn and Victoria Binford, a niece, Lynda Quinn of RI, two nephews, William Burgess of TN and Keith Burgess of RI, a sister and brother-in-law, Kenneth and Donna Zalauskas of South Yarmouth, MA. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 AM at the West Congregational Church, Johnson St., West Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
