Obituary of Harriet (Arabatzis) Chihlas

Harriet (Arabatzis) Chihlas DANVERS -- Harriet (Arabatzis) Chihlas, 73, of Danvers, died in her sleep at her residence on Saturday August 16, 2014 after a prolonged illness. She was the loving wife of 52 years of Nicholas A. Chihlas. She was born in the Bronx, New York City on April 17, 1941, the daughter of the late Theodore and Constance (Vafeas) Arabatzis and was raised and educated there, graduating from New York University in 1962. She had resided in Danvers for the past 41 years. Harriet had been an elementary school Teacher with the Topsfield School System for many years, and for the past 13 years was a Sales Representative for C.F. Medical Company of Danvers. She was very active in the Danvers community as a member of the Danvers Garden Club and the Danvers Historical Society. She was also a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church of Peabody and the Philiptohos Society. A classy lady who loved shopping and the latest fashions. She also enjoyed dancing, listening to different sounds of music, and entertaining with her family and friends. Besides her husband Nicholas of Danvers, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Dr. Christopher and Natasha Chihlas of East Greenwich, RI, a daughter and son-in-law Constance A. and Edmond Frisch of Danvers; her cherished grandchildren, Nicole and Joseph Frisch of Danvers and David and Nicholas Chihlas of East Greenwich, RI, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Steven Arabatzis. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 -- 8 P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held gathering on Wednesday August 20, 2014 at 9 AM from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Cholangio Carcinoma Foundation, 5526 West 134th Street South # 510, Salt Lake City, UT 84096 in her memory.
