Obituary of Esabelle E. (Silva) Tonkin
Esabelle E. (Silva) Hubbell/ Tonkin, 80, of Port Richey, Florida and formerly of Danvers, Ma., died on Friday , May 30, 2003 at the Morton Plant
North Bay Hospital in New Port Richey, Florida after a brief illness. She was the wife of
the late Francis Hubbell and the late Craig Tonkin.
She was born in Peabody on
December 31, 1922, the daughter of the late Theodor and Charlotte (Sousa) Silva and was raised in Danvers graduating with honors from Danvers High School.
Mrs Tonkin was first employed as a buyer with the former Almy’ s Department Store at the Danvers Ma. store. Following her first marriage, she moved to Milwaukee Wisconsin where she was an executive office buyer for Magnetuk Corp. for many
years prior to her retirement 24 years ago. She then resided in Gatlinburg,Tennessee before moving to Port Richey in 1991. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of
Peace Church in New Port Richey and did volunteering at the AIDS clinic in New York
City.
She is survived by a sister, Adeline Kassotis of Peabody, two brothers and sisters-in-law, John & Lucille Silva and Antonio and Joan Silva all of Danvers, MA. and
many nieces and nephews including her caregiver, Carol Stepenuck of Beverly, MA. and
many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at
9:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St.,
Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church
Danvers at 10:00 a.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours on
Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Expressions of
Sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham,
MA 01701.
