Obituary of M. Geraldine Gerr (O'Keefe) Ellis

M. Geraldine Gerry (O’Keefe) Ellis PEABODY—M. Geraldine Gerry (O’Keefe) Ellis, 86, of Peabody, died Thursday at the NSMC- Salem Hospital after a brief illness with her family at her side. She was the wife of the late Arthur T. Ellis Jr. She was born in Little Falls, New York on November 18, 1927, the daughter of the former Peabody Mayor, Attorney Joseph B. O’Keefe and Stasia (Guinee) O’Keefe and had resided in Peabody most of her life. She was a graduate of Peabody High School in 1945 and had attended Salem State College. Gerry first worked at the Salem Gas and Electric Co before her marriage and raising her family. She later was a medical assistant for Dr. William Gallagher office in Peabody prior to her retirement. She had volunteered at the Lahey Clinic North, Peabody and also at St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody for many years. She enjoyed traveling and taking trips with her family and friends. She had been a member of the Peabody Historical Society and devoted a lot of her time at St. John’s Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Beth Ellis and a son, Mark J. Ellis both of Danvers, her grandchildren, Shannon and Colin Ellis and her daughter-in-law, Katherine Ellis all of Portland, Maine and many caring friends. She was preceded in death by a son, “A.T.” Ellis. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 25, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
