Obituary of Shirley (Weeks) Murray

Shirley (Weeks) Murray, 70, of So. Peabody, died Tuesday evening at the Montserrat Nursing Center, Beverly after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Frederick W. Murray. She was born in Lynnfield on July 24, 1934, the daughter of the late Edwin C. and Irene (Preston) Weeks and had resided in Danvers before moving to Peabody 32 years ago. She was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1953. She had been a social worker with the mental health division of the Commonwealth of Mass at the former Danvers State Hospital for 22 years and later at Tewksbury State Hospital prior to her retirement in 1996 . She liked to knit and crochet, watch TV mystery shows and enjoyed country western music. She is survived by 2 daughters , Kathleen P. Murray-Pirrello of Beverly and Karen P. Murray of Peabody, 2 brothers, Edwin C. Weeks Jr. of Wilmington and Richard F. Weeks of Lynnfield, 2 sisters, Irene E. Mc Minamin of Destin, FL and Marion C. McFeeley of East Dennis, MA, 2 grandchildren, Joseph and Michael Pirrello of Beverly and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Kevin P. Murray and the sister of the late Harold R. Weeks. Her Funeral will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at the Conway ,Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. A Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 AM Prior to the Services. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
