Obituary of Alexandrina (Alves) Cunha

Alexandrina (Alves) Cunha, of Peabody, Ma., died Wednesday evening at the Port St. Lucie Medical Center in Florida after a short illness at the age of 101. She was born on May 6, 1904 in Gracioza, Azores Islands, Portugal, the daughter of the late Grisostimo and Senhorinha (Espindle) Alves and had resided there before moving to Peabody 40 years ago. She had been employed at the Dutchess Footwear Company in Salem for 15 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Society and Our Lady of Fatima Church. She was the wife of the late Joao Santos and later the late Jose Cunha . She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Maria Norberta and Manuel Silva of Port St. Lucie, FL and formerly of Peabody, MA, 5 grandchildren, Teresa Silva of Port St. Lucie, FL, Zelia Baptista, Elmira Santos and Charles Santos all of Peabody and Almarinda Capaldo of Townsend, Ma, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Jose Santos and Aldina Cunha and the sister of the late Manuel, Jose and Maria Alves. A Visitation will held on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill, Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility. Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
