Obituary of Frank P. Quartarone

Frank Quartarone PEABODY—Frank Quartarone, 90, beloved husband of the late Irene (Batista) Quartarone, died peacefully on Wednesday September 10, 2014 at the Haverhill Crossings Assisted Living Cener in Haverhill, while in the comforting presence of his family. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Rosario and Dominica (Arena) Quartarone. He grew up there and attended schools there, and lived in Peabody for over 60 years. He worked for the City of Peabody Shade Tree Department for many years before retiring 25 years ago. Frank was a member of the Christopher Columbus Club of Salem for over 72 years, where he loved social gatherings and playing cards. He was devoted to his family, and will be remembered as a kind and generous man. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mickey & her husband Charlie Slattery of Dracut; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert & Evy Quartarone of Hampstead, NH and Stephen & Gina Quartarone of Palm Coast, FL; five grandchildren, Chip Slattery, Jeff Slattery, Amy Piazza, Katie Quartarone, and Spencer Quartarone; seven great-grandchildren, Chase, Ashleigh, Conor, Stone, Cole, Allison, and Brooke; one sister Mary Lydon of Salem, and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Anthony Marraffa, and sisters Ginny Amato and Ida Quartarone. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Saturday September 13, 2014 at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
