Obituary of Natalie (Amanti) Geleski

Natalie (Amanti) Geleski, 93, passed away on Wednesday September 10th at the DeSoto Palms Assisted Living in Sarasota, Fl after a courageous two year battle with illness. She was the devoted wife of Charles Geleski with whom she shared over 53 years of marriage. She was the former wife of the late Anthony "Tony" Genewich. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Emanuel and Margaret (Nicoletti) Amanti. She was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1938. She continued her education at Salem Normal School (Salem State University) and received her degree in Education in 1944. She began her teaching career at Oak Bluffs High School on Martha’s Vineyard followed by six years at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH. She returned to Massachusetts in 1951 to accept a position at Story High School in Manchester-by-the-Sea where she taught for 10 years. She then taught for 21 years at Danvers High School before she finally retired in 1983. Natalie and Charles lived in Lynn for over 50 years. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed wintering in Sarasota, FL at Palm-Aire for over 30 years until moving to the DeSoto Palms Assisted Living these past 2 years. Natalie and Charles had no children of their own but certainly had a devoted and loving, close knit family with 14 nieces and nephews and their spouses and 24 grand nieces and grand nephews. Auntie Dolly was indeed special as well as loved by all of them and played a large part in their lives. Auntie Dolly is survived by 2 god-daughters who were very special to her, Susan Pietrogallo Haggett and Nancy Amanti Williams; she is also survived by her siblings, Anthony and his wife Norma Amanti, John and his wife Mary Amanti, Vincent Amanti and his wife Mary Anne and Grace Pietrogallo and her husband Louis. She was predeceased by her brother Gerald Amanti. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 12:00 PM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Grove St., Lynnfield to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn.
