Jack R. Griffin
PEABODY—Jack R. Griffin, 84, beloved husband of Betty Jo (Christopher) Griffin, died suddenly at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH on Wednesday September 10, 2014.
Born in Flint, MI, he was the son of the late John and Blanche (Smith) Griffin. He grew up in Fort Collins, CO where he attended schools and college. He then studied at Northeastern University where he earned his Masters degree in Electrical Engineering.
He was a Senior Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Griffin was an Aerospace Engineer with Phillips Laboratory on the Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford for many years.
Jack made wonderful impressions in many areas of his life as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and his dedication as an Aerospace Engineer for the nation. He will be remembered for his intelligence, his kindness and unselfish ways as one who would be the first to help anyone. Besides being the first onboard with any technology, he was passionately devoted to family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild.
He is survived by his wife Betty Jo (Christopher) Griffin of Peabody, with whom he shared over 70 years together; two sons, Larry & his wife Patricia Griffin of Peabody and Paul & his wife Alinka Griffin of Tucson, AZ; a daughter, Gloria & her husband Ervin Meluleni of Bernardston; eight grandchildren, Jason and Lisa, Jennifer and Nick, Mackenzie, Emily, Paul Jr. and Sacha; one great-granddaughter Arianna; two brothers, Robert Lawson of Ft. Collins, CO and Terry Lawson of Provo, UT, and several nieces and nephews.
The family held a private reception at their home.
