Obituary of Dwight "Jesse" A. James

Dwight “Jesse” A. James 71, of Georgetown and formerly of Peabody, died early Sunday morning at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Irving and Ruth (Hulbert) James. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School. He has lived in Georgetown for the past 30 years. After graduating high school, Jesse enlisted with the United States Coast Guard and served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1972. He later attended Salem State College and Burdett College. Jesse was employed as a traveling road salesman selling Ford Motorcraft Parts. He enjoyed cooking and was known for his green tomato relish. He is survived by his two sons, Darren James of CA and Todd James of Bridgewater, and his six grandchildren, and also by his beloved companion of 30 years, Diane Martin of Georgetown, her daughter Theresa Clark and her children Alissa and Keith and their children. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11:30 AM at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Arrangements were made by the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.
