Obituary of David A Heroian
David A Heroian, 56, of Ipswich, died Wednesday evening at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital following a prolonged illness. He was the devoted husband of Gail (Manni) Heroian with whom he shared 22 years of marriage.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Thoros and Lucy (Minasian) Heroian. He was raised and educated in Auburn and was a graduate of Auburn High School, class of 1976. He continued his education at UMass Amherst and received his degree in Turf Grass Science and Management in 1980.
While in high school, Dave excelled in track and field and on the football field as well. Upon marrying his wife Gail, he moved to Ipswich where he has lived for the past 22 years.
Dave joined Myopia Hunt Club as head Golf Superintendent in 1987 and was known for having brought this elite course to a new standard of excellence. Long standing Myopia members recognize him as a friend and someone who achieved outstanding results during his tenure as lead Superintendent. Current and former Golf and Grounds Chairman at the club say Dave was universally admired and respected by members and employees alike. He mentored many, with several of his top course assistants going on to take leadership positions at some of the most prominent clubs in the country. He will be sorely missed by the entire Myopia family.
Besides his loving wife, Dave is survived by his two sons, Adam and Alexander Heroian of Ipswich, his four brothers, Armen Heroian of Burbank, CA, Menze Heroian of Orlando, FL, Hagop Heroian of Richmond, MA and Thoros Heroian of Edmond, OK & Lagos, Nigeria, his sister, Setta Heroian of Sarasota, FL and by several nieces and nephews.
