Obituary of Janina S. "Jane" Wozniak

Janina S. Jane (Sokal) Wozniak 59 years, wife of Chester J. Wozniak of Peabody, died Wednesday at the Salem Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Wozniak was born May 15, 1946 in Soluw, Poland daughter of Genevieve (Kliza) Sokal and the late Joseph Sokal. She was educated in Poland and immigrated to the United States in 1966 making her home in Peabody. Mrs. Wozniak was employed for 12 years as a seamstress at Kapps Clothing Store in Swampscott. She devoted her life to her family and grandchildren. As hobbies she enjoyed gardening and sewing. In addition to her husband with whom she shared 40 years of marriage and her mother of Poland, she is survived by a daughter and her husband, Ellen J. and Nicholas DiMauro of Manchester, NH; a son, Adam C. Wozniak of Salem; 4 sisters, Grace Chanaj of Peabody, Mary Spyra, Zenobia Michalek and Wackawa Gryta all of Poland; 2 grandchildren, Anthony and Alyssa DiMauro of Manchester, NH and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St. location Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday 3 to 7 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
