Obituary of Raymond Francis Karpinski
Raymond Francis Karpinski, 74, of Wimauma, FL, husband of Angelina Karpinski, died in Houston, TX on August 15, 2014 with his family by his side.
Raymond was born in Peabody, on December 15, 1939, son of the late Harry and Mary (Sullivan) Karpinski. He was raised and educated in Peabody. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an E-1 and during his 24 year career rose through the ranks to an E-9 / Master Chief of all Naval Communications until receiving his Honorable Discharge. During his career Raymond was stationed in the Philippines, Morocco, California, Alaska, England, Norfolk, VA, Greece and Washington, D.C.
Raymond earned a Masters of Business Management at Corpus Christi State University. Following his discharge from the Navy, he remained as a civil service consultant to the U.S Government from 1983 – 2005, retiring in Florida. Raymond was a loving father who devoted his life to his family, friends, religious community and remained very active in civic organizations.
In addition to his wife, Raymond is survived by his children, Annette Karpinski, Stacy Grover, David Khamo, Joseph Khamo and Darrell Karpinski; 5 grandchildren, Jordan Karpinski, Monique and Mia Grover, and Isaac & Elijah Khamo; 3 sisters and their spouses, Natalie Maga and Al Therrien, Janet and Tim Spanos all of Peabody, Linda and John Lincoln of Danvers, and an uncle and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass was held at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Tampa, FL on August 28, 2014. A Navy Military committal of Raymond’s ashes will be scheduled at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. The family has requested that donations be made in Raymond’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org .
