Obituary of Rita M. (White) Filippone

Rita M. (White) Filippone, of Peabody formerly of Reading, 80 years, wife of the late Henry F. Filippone died unexpectedly Sunday at the Salem Hospital. Mrs. Filippone was born Dec. 24, 1921 in Boston daughter of the late Edward and Bella (Roach) White. She was raised and educated in Boston. She moved to Peabody in 1995 after living in Reading for most of her life. She had been employed as a cashier at W.T. Grant in Wilmington before working as a data processor for Compugraphic of Wilmington for several years prior to her retirement in 1978. She volunteered extensively at the Peabody House in Peabody. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Edward C. and Frances Filippone of Port Charlotte, FL, Leonard J. and Helen Filippone of Reading; a daughter and her husband Elaine F. and Richard Gondella of Salem; three brothers, Edward White of Norwood, Charles White of Marshfield and Frederick White of Revere; a sister, Isabelle Spencer of Bedford, NH; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the grandmother of the late Jason Filippone. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 9 a.m. in St. James Church, Salem. Relatives and friends are invited and may pay their respects Wednesday from 8 to 8:45 a.m. at the Cahill-Brodeur facility at 20 Church St., Peabody (978-531-0472) of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home.
