Obituary of Charles Turner
Charles Turner of Peabody, died early saturday evening at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Simie L. (Wilson) Turner with whom he shared over 38 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Lee and Seller (Debose) Turner. He later moved to Dorchester and has been living in Peabody for the past several years.
Prior to his retirement, he worked for 17 years as a machinist at Polaroid in Waltham. He also enjoyed gardening, dancing and music. He was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed watching baseball and was a Baltimore Oriole fan.
Besides his wife of 38 years, he is survived by a son, Charles Alexander Turner of Peabody and several nieces and cousins. He was the brother of the late Tina Turner Phillips and Esther Turner McCloud.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 12:00 PM at West Congregational Church, 27 Johnson Street, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the Church from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
