Obituary of Therese Marie (Bertrand) Crone
Therese Marie “Marie” (Bertrand) Crone, 86, of Brooksby Village, Peabody, Ma died Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers after a full life. She was born in Teaneck, New Jersey on January 19, 1928, the daughter of the late George F. and Mary Ann “Marion” (Hyland) Bertrand and lived in New York and New Hampshire before moving to Peabody, Massachusetts 10 years ago. Her passion was her faith, her family, and her art. Marie was a graduate of Syracuse University receiving her BFA in painting and illustration, taking workshops with many nationally recognized artists. Following graduation she first worked at Ladies Home Journal. She later taught watercolor classes at Onondaga Community College and Cazenovia College in New York State and most recently with her friends at Brooksby Village in Peabody, MA. Marie was a distinguished artist. Her works are in many private collections and she won numerous awards in regional and national shows. She was a member of the Central New York Watercolor Society, a signature member at the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, and a member of the Newburyport Art Association. Marie was the president of the Legion of Mary and a Eucharistic Minister at St. James Parish in Cazenovia, New York, a place she loved and raised her family.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas F. Crone of Peabody, MA. She is also survived by her children Thomas P. Crone and his wife Debbie of Derwood, MD., Carol Reynolds and her husband Stephen of Newburyport, MA, Diane Crone of Acton, MA, Sheila Armstrong of Salisbury, MA and John Crone and his wife Kathy of East Syracuse, New York. She was loved by her 8 grandchildren, Erin and Devin Crone, Camden and Taylor Armstrong, Kate and Patrick Reynolds and Andrew and Kiera Crone, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Crone of Harrison, Ohio and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Virginia Mitnick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the Brooksby Village Chapel, 301 Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody MA. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem MA, Following burial a reception will be held at Brooksby Village, Harvest Grille, 200 Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody, MA. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Brooksby Village Benevolent Fund, 100 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody, MA 01960 in her memory.
