Obituary of Holly O. (Haruko Onaga) Goodrow

Holly O. (Haruko Onaga) Goodrow, 87, of Richmond, VT., beloved wife of the late Robert T. Goodrow, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 with her family by her side at the NSMC Salem Hospital. Mrs. Goodrow was born in Naha, Okinawa, Japan, on February 21, 1927, daughter of the late Ryosei and Tsuru Onega. She was raised and educated in Japan and emigrated to the United States in 1956, making her home in Beverly where she devoted her life to creating a home for her 8 children. In 1983, she and her late husband moved to Florida where they resided before moving to Richmond, VT in 1995. Holly had a passion for learning which she tried to pass on to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, knitting, sewing, gardening and cooking. Holly is survived by her loving children and spouses, Kathleen and William Weedon, Patrick and Nancy Goodrow and their 4 children and 3 grandchildren, Ginny and Ed L’Abbe and their 3 children, Cynthia and Carl Berry and their 2 children, Matthew and Jennifer Goodrow and their 4 children, Sharon and Bob Kenney and their 5 children, and 4 grandchildren, Timothy and Janice Goodrow and their 2 children, Andrew and Wendy Goodrow and their 4 children; 2 brothers and a sister of Okinawa, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant, Daniel Goodrow. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her Celebration of Life service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. The family requested that memorial contributions be made in Holly’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
