Obituary of Charles W Hamilton
Charles W. Hamilton, 95, of Peabody and formerly of Leominster, died peacefully Monday evening at the Lahey Clinic in Peabody following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Joan H. (Schecker) Hamilton and the late Doris (Varming) Hamilton.
Born in Chicago, he was the son of the late John and Emma Hamilton. He was raised and educated in Illinois and received his Masters degree from Northwestern University.
He was a veteran of World War II who served with the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946.
Charles moved to Leominster in 1969 and was employed as a Research Chemist at the former Foster Grant Company. He enormously enjoyed his time in the Leominster area, and he was a member of the Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg. In 2012 he moved to Peabody where he has lived for the past 2 years at Brooksby Village.
Charles is survived by his children, John Hamilton of Western Springs, IL, William and his wife Jill Hamilton of Marblehead, Cheryl Allen of Fort Wayne, IN, and by Joel and his wife Colleen Hamilton of Amesbury and he is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his step-children Sheri and Russell Wall of Easthampton and Kenneth Glazier of Fairhaven. He was predeceased by his three siblings and two step-children.
Following cremation, a memorial will be held in his hometown of Chicago later next spring.
