Obituary of Sheldon Murray Robinson

Sheldon Murray Robinson, 96, of Goffstown, NH and formerly of Salem, died on Sunday December 7, 2014 at Catholic Memorial Center in Manchester, NH following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Mary Helena (Sirios) Robinson who passed away this past August. Sheldon was born in Saskatchewan, Canada on February 11, 1918 and was the son of the late George and Mary (Farnsworth) Robinson. He was raised in Canada and then later he moved to Lynn then Salem where had lived for over 50 years. He has spent the last 30 years living in Goffstown, NH. Sheldon attended Essex Agricultural School in Danvers and later he enlisted with the United States Army and served during WWII and was honorably discharged on December 10, 1945. Sheldon was employed for over 40 years as a machinist, first with AC Lawrence in Peabody for 34 years and for six years he was at GTE Sylvania in Danvers before finally retiring. Sheldon enjoyed taking many trips with his wife up to Canada and visiting family members in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and he loved playing cards, especially cribbage, and he loved to dance and play the accordion. He is survived by three daughters, Sandra Dupree of Farmington, NH, Judith and her husband Paul Curley of North Reading, and Deborah and her husband Donald McCormick of Conyers, GA, and is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother and two sisters. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:30 until 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
