Obituary of William L. Busta
William Luis Busta Jr., 76, of Peabody died
unexpectedly Tuesday at his cottage at Seymour Lake in Newport city, Vermont. He was the husband of Caroline V. Lola (Ziomek) Busta with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Lawrence, Ma., he was the son of the late William &
Mary (Benson) Busta and had resided in Peabody most of his life.
He was a veteran of WW 11 serving with the U.S. Navy in the Philippines and
Pacific Theatre operations prior to his discharge in 1945.
He then became a coppersmith and pipefitter working at the Boston Ma. and
Portsmouth N.H. Naval yards on nuclear submarines for 27 years prior to his
retirement 19 years ago.
He then purchased his cottage in Newport Vt. where
He enjoyed maintaining his grounds and his Vermont lifestyle at Seymour Lake.
He had a passion for flying and building aircraft and was a life member of the
Experimental Aircraft Association and had a pilot license for several years prior
to his retirement.
He had been a member and auditor of St. Michael’ s Society of
Peabody and was a member along with his wife of St. Joseph’ s Church, Peabody.
He enjoyed being with his grandchildren.
Surviving him besides his wife are 2 sons
William L. Busta 3rd of Danvers and Michael Busta of Salem, a daughter and son-in-law,
Kathleen and Frank Britch of Brownington, Vt.; a brother and sister-in-law, Allen and
Pat Busta of Hampton, N.H., 4 grandchildren, Sara Britch, Carl, Anna and Daniel Busta
and many nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late William Busta 4th.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the
Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility to which
relatives and friends are kindly invited. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday
at 10:00 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Salem. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of your choice.
