Obituary of John W Grant
John W. Grant, 86, of Walnut St., Peabody died unexpectedly early Thursday morning at the Montserrat Nursing Home in Beverly following a brief illness. He was the husband of
the late Lillian (Phillips) Grant.
He was born in Peabody on March 19, 1917, the son of the late Felix and Mary
(Otovic) Gruntkosky and resided most of his life in Peabody.
He had been a splitter in the leather industry for over 20 years prior to his
retirement. He enjoyed tinkering as a car mechanic, was a boating enthusiast, loved to travel, and was an avid Red Sox fan.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John F. and Andrea Grant of Beverly,
2 grandchildren, Garrett Grant and Katherine Grant both of Peabody and many nieces
and nephews. He was the brother of the late Stephen and Joseph Gruntkosky, Sophie Lavorgna, and Helen Masino.
His funeral will be held on
Monday at 8:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut
St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at
9:00 a.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Visiting hours on Sunday from
4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
