Obituary of Dorothy (Luzinski) Sakelakos

Dorothy (Luzinski) Sakelakos, 81, of Peabody, died Sunday afternoon at the Cedar Glen Harborside Nursing Home, Danvers, following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Peter Sakelakos. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Dziernowski) Luzinski. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1941. Upon her marriage, she moved to Peabody and has been living there for the past 55 years. She worked for over 23 years for Parker Brothers in Salem retiring as a clerk. She was past state president of Massachusetts for PLAV as well as past president of the local post 55 PLAV. She also was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary # 1524, Salem. She was the loving mother of three children, Peter and his wife Janet Sakelakos, Donna Arnone, and Patricia and her husband Michael Ellis, all of Peabody, sister of Edward and his wife Phyllis Luzinski of Salem. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Kerry and her husband Fred Sullivan, Andrea, Christopher, and Mark Sakelakos, and Nicole Ellis, all of Peabody, two great grandchildren, Austin and Alyssa Sullivan of Peabody and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. John the Baptist Polish Church, Salem, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the All Care Hospice, 16 City Hall Square, Lynn, MA 01901 or the Alzheimer’ s Assoc., 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
