Obituary of Ethel (Kanarellis) Caravolas
Ethel (Kanarellis) Caravolas,88, of Peabody died peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2015 at the Peabody Glen Healthcare Center, Peabody. She was the wife of the late James Caravolas. She was born in Peabody, MA on May 30, 1926, the daughter of the late Michael and Villemina (Petrathelis) Kanarellis and had resided in Peabody most of her life.
Ethel was a devoted member of St. Vasilios Church and a member of the Philoptohos Society. She had been employed as a glassblower for the GTE Sylvania Company at the Salem facility for many years prior to her retirement.
She is survived by a son, Dr. John Caravolas of Newton, a brother, Thomas Kanarellis of North Carolina. She was “Yia-Yia” to Thomas and James Caravolas and also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Maria Caravolas and the sister of the late Emanuel Kanarellis.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 until 8 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM from the funeral Home followed by Services in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Paleologos St., Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Expressions of sympathy may be made to charity of your choice.
