Obituary of Mary A (Garcelon) Wood

Mary A. Wood, 93, of Peabody died peacefully Thursday morning at her home following a long illness. She was the devoted wife of Frederic H. Wood with whom she shared 73 years of marriage. Born in Marblehead, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Hazel (Stever) Garcelon. Mary was a graduate of Salem High School, and for the past fifty years resided in Peabody where she was a dedicated homemaker. In her free time Mary enjoyed playing bingo. In addition to her husband Frederic, Mary is survived by her son Frederic H. Wood, Jr. and his partner James Wilkins of Washington. She was predeceased by her daughter Karen Wood, and her six siblings, Raymond, James, Edward, Elizabeth, Helen and Beatrice. Family and friends are invited to attend Mary’s funeral service which will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10 AM. A visitation will be held just prior from 9 to 10 AM. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street Peabody. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 100 Cedar Grove Ave. in Peabody.
