Obituary of Mary A Murphy

Mary A (Hardy) Murphy, 70, a resident of Peabody for the past 20 years died peacefully on Saturday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Francis H Hardy and Elinor (Galvin) Cloutier-Hardy. She was raised in Lynn and attended St. Patrick’ Grammar School and St. Mary’s Girls High School, class of 1962. Mary was a beautiful person inside and out, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. Some of Mary’s favorite activities were bowling, bingo, trips to Foxwoods and helping at St. Joseph’s Food Pantry in Salem. Mary is survived by her loving and devoted husband Arthur with whom she shared 48 years of marriage, her son Michael Murphy of Plaistow, New Hampshire, and her cherished granddaughters, Nicole and Michelle Murphy. She is also survived by her brothers Francis X. Hardy and his wife Ellen of Peabody and Thomas M. Hardy and his wife Eileen of Reading, her sister Ann Jones and her husband Alfred of Hampstead, NH, and her brother-in-law, Manuel Brown of East Bridgewater. In addition, she leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and her special friend Dee Tosi. She was predeceased by her sister Eileen Brown, her brother William H. Hardy and sister-in-law Bridget Ethel Hardy. Mary’s gift and legacy is her courageous spirit and endless faith in the goodness of life and love. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Mary’s funeral will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
