Obituary of Sr. Marie Rose Julie Tierney

Sr. Marie Rose Julie Tierney IPSWICH – Sister Marie Rose Julie Tierney, 92 of Ipswich died peacefully at the Julie Billiart Center in Ipswich on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. She was born and grew up in Beverly, the daughter of the late Michael and Anne (Curran) Tierney. She is predeceased by her two brothers, Thomas and James, and survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Sr. Marie Rose earned degrees from Burdett College, Emmanuel College and Boston College. Her ministries as a Sister of Notre Dame included teaching and administration. Among her missions were St. Joseph's School, Somerville; Cardinal Cushing Central High School, South Boston; Bishop Fenwick High School, Peabody; and Julie Country Day School in Leominister. She had lived and served at Ipswich for the past twenty-nine years. Relatives and friends are invited to gather for the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 3:00 pm in Our Lady Queen Chapel at 30 Jeffreys Neck Road, Ipswich. The wake will begin at 1:00 pm and the Memorial Service at 2:00 pm. All are invited. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Sisters of Notre Dame Retirement Fund at 30 Jeffreys Neck Road, Ipswich, MA 01938. Funeral planned with Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, Peabody.
