Obituary of Louise S. (O'Rourke) Doran

Louise S. (O’ Rourke) Doran 77 years of Peabody, wife of the late Edward W. Doran, died Sunday afternoon at her home after a lengthy illness surrounded by her family. Mrs. Doran was born on February 20, 1928 in Cambridge daughter of the late Lawrence and Helen (Damon) O’ Rourke. She was raised in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High and Latin High School in 1941. Mrs. Doran resided in the Boston area before moving to Peabody in 1961. Mrs. Doran began her working career at the New England Telephone Company. After raising her family she returned to work for Nynex. During her tenure she worked in the Boston and North Shore areas. She retired in 1992 from the Nynex Middleton office after 25 years with a management position. She supported foster children in South America thru Christian Organizations. She was an animal lover who had a special admiration for birds and she always made sure they were well fed. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Edward W. Doran Jr. and Susan Doran of Peabody, Janine McCarron of Salem NH, Barbara and Norman Perry Arundel ME and Norine and Robert Fiore of Peabody; a brother, James O’ Rourke of FL; a sister, Frances Riley of Billerica; 7 grandchildren, James and Michael McCarron of No. Andover, Jaclyn Perry of ME, Nicole DiGiacamo, Jaimie and Kristi Fiore and Matthew Pearson all of Peabody; 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her daughter Lisa Gildea and her siblings Helen Herman, Charles and Lawrence O’ Rourke pre deceased her. Her funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Adelaide’ s Church, 708 Lowell St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers MA 01923 or the North Shore Cancer Center, 17 Centennial Drive, Peabody MA 01960.
