Obituary of Helen (Kalivas) Orfanides

Helen (Kalivas) Orfanides, 69 years, of Peabody, wife of the late Bartholemew Foley and former wife of Emmanuel Orfanides of Peabody, died unexpectedly Monday at her home. Mrs. Orfanides was born April 21, 1934 in Peabody daughter of the late Nicholas and Maria (Demopoulos) Kalivas. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School class of 1952. She later attended Beverly Community College for a year. Mrs. Orfanides served as a member of the Board of Directors at North Shore Community Action in Peabody for several years. She also served as Vice President of the E.O.C.D. advisory Board in Boston from 1988 to 1991. Mrs. Orfanides is survived by 2 sons, Michael J. Foley of Portland, Maine and James N. Orfanides of Amesbury; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry and Dolly Kalivas of Peabody, James and Stella Kalivas of CA and Demo and Gladys Kalivas of Salem; a sister, Calliope Centner of AZ; 2 grandchildren, Nicholas Foley of Laconia, NH and Kyle Foley of Westbrook, ME; a close friend Diana DiChiara of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late George, John, Spero and Theodore Kalivas. Her funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, at the 20 Church St., Peabody location followed by a service at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody.
