Obituary of Richard J. "Rick" Bettencourt

Richard J. Rick Bettencourt 56 years of Peabody died Thursday at the Salem Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Bettencourt was born March 19, 1949 in Salem son of Stella M. (Romanowicz) Bettencourt and the late Joseph G. Bettencourt. He was raised in Peabody, graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School class of 1967. He then attended Bentley College in Boston and received his Degree in Business Administration from the Roger Williams College in Providence RI in 1971. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody. Mr. Bettencourt began his working career as a milk deliveryman with his father at Bett’ s Dairy family business in Peabody. He then continued working with H.P. Hood as a sales representative for many years in the Boston and North Shore area. He was an avid golfer. In addition to his mother of Peabody, he is survived by a sister and her husband, Anne Marie and Gary Connors of Brookline NH; his nieces and nephews, Christine, Sean, Katie and Quinn Connors all of Brookline NH; an aunt, Sophie Syl Bagley of Peabody; his fiancée Donna Davis and her son Kevin Davis both of Amesbury and several cousins. His funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., location Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Maine SIDS Foundation, 14 Charlonate Dr., Gray, ME 04039. Burial will be private.
