Obituary of Stacia F. (Nizwantowski) Caton
Stacia F. (Nizwantowski) Caton, 96, of Salem and Peabody passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 with her family by her side.
Mrs. Caton was born in Salem on January 12, 1919, daughter of the late Felix and Antonina (Pietrowski) Nizwantowski and was raised and educated in Peabody, moving to Salem 30 years ago.
Stacia began a long working career in the restaurant business in 1935 working for the original proprietors of The Century Inn (now the Century House of Peabody) followed by 35 years in management at the Skyline Restaurant of the Peabody Jordan Marsh where before retiring in 1993 was regularly honored at her outstanding performance. Stacia, an animal lover, proudly displayed the culinary skills acquired in her career to prepare holiday dinners for her family, and in retirement enjoyed reading, daily jaunts to Market Basket and relaxing on the back deck. The family would also like to thank the many caregivers who assisted with Stacia’s illness.
Stacia was much loved and will be deeply missed by her son Robert J. Caton and his wife Petra of Acton, daughter Marie A. (Caton) Bois and her husband Richard of Salem; her grandchildren, Debra Ann Caton, Christyne (Caton) Tremblay and her husband Wayne, and JoAnne (Bois) Dobrosielski all of Salem, Richard S. Bois and wife Carole of Derry, NH, Robert Bois and wife Tess of Princeton, and John Bois and wife Barbara of Albany, NH; step grandson, Percy Heinz of Acton; thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Stacia was also predeceased by her brothers Frank and Matt Nizwantowski.
Stacia’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice Care, 100 Trade Center, G-500, Woburn, MA 01801 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
