Obituary of Irene M. (Young) Boutin

Irene M. (Young) Boutin PEABODY – Irene M. (Young) Boutin, 86, beloved wife of Gerard “Gerry” Boutin, died peacefully on Tuesday March 17, 2015 at her home while in the comforting presence of her family. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Antonia (Budrick) Young. She grew up there and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Cambridge. She studied at Salem State College later in life. Irene was a very faithful and devoted parishioner at St. Adelaide’s Church in Peabody. She was on the Altar Society, a Minster of Communion, and many other liturgical and social committees. She was a member of the 2nd Marine Division Association and an active supporter of the Marine Corps League and Toys for Tots. She was a very giving person, and with her love of cooking she would always be making something, if not for family then for others who may need help in troubled times. She loved praying The Rosary, was passionate about her family, especially her grandchildren, was a big fan of the “I Love Lucy” show, and she loved animals. Mrs. Boutin enjoyed being a homemaker, and also worked at JJ Newberries at the North Shore Shopping Center. She later worked as an accountant, bookkeeper and office manager in the Construction field—first with G.H. Harnum and later with Allen Construction before retiring in 1993. She is survived by her husband Gerard “Gerry” Boutin of Peabody, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage; three sons and daughters-in-law, Paul & Peggy Boutin of Townsend, Stanley & Jeanne Boutin of Nashua, Bryan & Linda Boutin of Manchester, NH, and a beloved and caring daughter Michelle Boutin of Tewksbury; four grandchildren, Patricia & her husband Christopher Jones, Ashley Boutin, Sara Boutin, and Matthew Boutin; two amazing great-grandchildren, Michael & Alexa Jones; a much beloved sister, Jean Hanlon of Peabody; four nieces & nephews, Frank Hanlon, Jean Yennaco, Michael Hanlon, and Doreen Conway, and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her brothers Stanley Young, John Jankowski and Mike Jankowski. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Monday March 23, 2015 at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody.
