Obituary of Patricia A. (Shea) Kohanski

Patricia A. (Shea) Kohanski, 71, of Danvers, died in Puno, Peru on Monday, March 16, 2015 while vacationing with her husband Stephen J. Kohanski. Pat was born in Helena, Arkansas on April 1, 1943 daughter of the late Eileen (Boudreau) Shea Brunning and Gordon Shea. She graduated from Beverly High, class of 1961, attended Endicott College and received her Bachelor of Science and a Master’s in Education at Salem State College. Pat taught in the Salem Public Schools at the System Horace Mann Elementary School for 36 years, retiring in 2002. During this time and after retirement she traveled extensively with her husband, visiting all the continents. Also after retiring she became a docent at the Peabody Essex Museum, was a member of the Danvers Garden Club and the Danvers Historical Society. In addition to her husband of 48 years, Pat is survived by an aunt and uncle, Corinne and Robert Cassavaugh of Penacook, NH; her step-brother and his wife, Richard and Michelle Brunning, and their children Corina and Nick all of Manchester; her numerous cousins, and will be missed by her many friends including “The Painting Girls”, and also by her loyal and precious cat Smokey. Pat’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, March 26, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 8 a.m. from the funeral home followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers.
