Obituary of Richard T. Collins

Richard T. Collins, 76 years, husband of Donna M. (Reteiff) Collins of Peabody, died Saturday evening at the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington after a brief illness. Mr. Collins was born June 6, 1927 in Montague, P.E.I. Canada son of the late James and Emeline (Clair) Collins. He was raised and educated in Montague. He emigrated to the United States in 1956 and resided in Lynn before moving to Peabody in 1961. Mr. Collins was employed at Purity Supreme in Danvers for 25 years and was manager of the deli department for several years prior to his retirement in 1977 due to a disability. After moving from Canada he was employed for a few years at H.P. Hood Company in Watertown. He enjoyed walking, hockey and horses. In addition to his wife he is survived by 4 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, Robert J. and Karen Collins of Ramona, CA, John T. and Joanne Collins, James A. Collins all of Peabody and Lenny F. and Joanna Collins of Methuen; a brother, Frederick Collins of P.E.I. Canada; a sister, Christine Banville of Swampscott; 5 grandchildren, April and Clayton Collins of CA, Jared and Trevor Collins of Peabody and Alexander Collins of Methuen and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Katherine Day and Ella Belmare. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. At the request of the family there will be no visiting hours. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
