Obituary of Joseph P. Puleo

Joseph P. Puleo, 37, passed away Monday morning at Beverly Hospital. Born in Salem, he is the loving son of Peter and Dianne (Anderson) Puleo of Middleton, and loving and devoted brother of Peter C. Puleo of North Conway, NH, and the late Kimberly Puleo. He was raised in Middleton and was a graduate of Masconomet Regional High School, class of 1987. After High School, he entered the United States Marine Corps where he served during Desert Shield - Desert Storm Operations. He was with the first troops that helped liberated Kuwait in 1991 and was the recipient of several citations and service medals, including the meritorious mast, sea service deployment ribbon, national service defense medal, southwest Asia service medal, riffle marksman badge, pistol marksman badge, MUG, SWA 3 stars, and the Kuwait liberation medal from both the Saudi and Kuwait Governments. He also served as a USMC Recruiter in 1990 and 1991. In August of 2003, he started a Nonprofit Organization, Forgotten American Veteran, Inc, an organization helping veterans of the United States military by providing them with information about benefits, educational opportunities and other programs that are available to veterans. Joseph served his country with honor and pride and spent most of his time and energy helping, assisting, and comforting other veterans, especially his father, Peter, which his father is eternally grateful for. After the War he started the Leather and Furs Unlimited with his loving sister Kim, in North Conway, New Hampshire, then worked as a sales representative for Combined Insurance Company of America in Chicago, and finally he was an electrical apprentice, with local 103 IBEW in Dorchester. Joseph was a member of the Masconomet Varsity Hockey team where he broke a 24 years scoring record until it was recently broken. He also was a member of the CW Davis, VFW Post 2359 in Danvers. Besides his loving parents and brother, he is survived by, wife Leanne Puleo of Danvers and he is the loving and devoted father of Gianna Marie Puleo of Danvers and Joseph P. Puleo Perkins, Jr., of Newburyport, he is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Alice Chi Chi Anderson of Peabody, and Gianna Marie’ s two dogs, Annie and Phoebe, as well as many devoted friends and relatives. I love you Joey and the truth of your heart will be always be known love Mom. His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the West Congregational Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
