Obituary of John J Cleary
John J Cleary, 86, of Peabody and formerly of East Boston, died early Tuesday morning at his home surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Barbara J. (Hardy) Cleary.
Born in Revere, he was the son of the late George A and Ethel (Fraser) Cleary. He was raised and educated in East Boston and was a graduate of East Boston High School.
He was the loving father of John C and his wife Debbie Cleary of Peabody, Janet Cleary-Hardy of Raleigh, NC, Brian Cleary and Laureen Finnell of Pepperell, and Kevin and his wife Julie Cleary of Ipswich, loving grandfather of Jennifer Hardy-Watt and her husband Andy, Brian P. Cleary and Cara Riddell, Jade Hardy-Turner, Julienne Hardy-Turner, Christina, Lillian, and Mia Cleary, and great grandfather of Casen and Riley Marie Cleary. He was predeceased by his siblings, George, Bill, Paul, and Ethel.
John was employed for 35 years as a machinist for TRW and Northrop Grumman Co. He served with the US Army during the Korean War and was a Merchant Marine. His Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
