Obituary of Adelino Jose Valentim

Adelino Jose Valentim, 69, of Peabody, entered into eternal rest, April 11th, at his residence. Adelino was born in Lisbon, Portugal on July 27, 1945, son of the late Adelino and Carlota (Marta) Valentim. He was raised and educated in Portugal until moving to the United States 38 years ago. Adelino, or Jose, as many people knew him, had a love for the game of soccer. He was an avid player and went on to referee for local soccer organizations. It was a sport he played with pride and heart, it became a major part of his life. He also frequented many local clubs, such as the Holy Ghost Society in Peabody, to which they even name a meat entree after him, Bife a Valentim. He was also a member of the Our Lady of Help Hall and the Clube de Luis Camoes, both in Peabody. He was known for having a big presence whenever he went somewhere. Whether it was telling a joke or just talking in his loud voice, he was always enjoyed being surrounded by people and having a good time. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by a daughter, Sara Valentin, of Peabody, his brother and his wife; Antonio & Maria Valentim, of Florida; a niece; Sandra Valentim of Peabody; a nephew and his wife; George & Barbara Valentim of North Carolina; a godson; Noah Valentim; a great-niece; Mia Valentim, an uncle in France, an aunt in Portugal, and many friends. A Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, from 3- 6 P.M.at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a service at 6 P.M. in the funeral home.
