Obituary of Claire M Morrison

Claire M. Morrison, 77, of 15 Osborne Street, died on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at home, after a long illness. Born in Peabody, she was the twelfth child of the late John and Ellen (McMahon) Morrison. She grew up in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School and Salem State College. Claire (Miss Morrison) taught second grade for many years in the Peabody School System, first at the Kiley Brothers Memorial School and then at the West Memorial School. She is survived by seven brothers and sisters, Elizabeth A. (Betty) LeBlanc of Newburyport, Ellen C. Morrison of Peabody, John J. Morrison of Salem, Margaret C. Abbott of Wakefield, Alice T. Morrison of Wakefield, Loretta F. Coombs of Beverly and Ethelwyn E. Morrison of Peabody, two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Morrison of Lynn and Virginia Morrison of Salem, a special cousin Mary McDermott of Peabody and by many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by brothers Edward L. (Eamon) Morrison of Lynn, Francis X. Morrison of Phoenix, Robert E. Morrison of Peabody and sister Mary V. Allain of Salem. Claire loved reading, playing the piano, being a teacher, spending summers on Cape Cod, and mostly spending time with her cherished family. Claire celebrated her Irish heritage and enjoyed visiting her aunts, uncles, and cousins in Ireland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a visitation on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. A Funeral Mass will be held following the visitation at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Peabody at 12:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
