Obituary of Richard L. Comeau
Richard L. “Dick” Comeau 74, of Peabody, devoted husband of Mary Jane (Lowry) Comeau, died after a brief illness on Saturday, May 30, 2015 with his family by his side at the Kaplan Family Hospice House.
Richard was born in Lynn on February 5, 1941 son of the late Herbert and Ida (Elwell) Comeau. He was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Trade High School, and has been a resident of Peabody since 1973. In 1959, he enlisted into the U. S. Navy as an SFM2 receiving his honorable discharge in 1965.
Richard was employed for 34years as an iron worker at General Electric in Lynn and retired in 2004. Dick was very proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was particularly proud of his 5 grandchildren. He was a member of the Early Ford V8 Club, the K of C Valladolid Council #70 in Lynn and his hobbies included cars, motorcycles and rebuilding his 1933 Ford dump truck. He also traveled with his wife to many locations including Alaska, Hawaii, Australia and Europe. In addition to his wife with whom he shared 53 years of marriage, he is survived by his loving children and their spouses, Richard L. Comeau Jr., and Toni-Ann Comeau of Peabody, Suzanne and Patrick O’Brien of Swampscott, Pauline and Mark Lotito of Wrentham, and Cathleen and Amos Cutter of Salem; his cherished grandchildren, Luke and Liam O’Brien, and Adelyn, Adam and Owen Lotito; 2 brothers, Herbert Comeau and his wife Ann, and his twin Robert Comeau, his wife the late Sandra all of Lynn; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Gerald Comeau, a sister, Diane Teal, and a loving sister-in-law Margaret “Peggy” Murphy.
Richard’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 3rd at 9 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin St., Peabody.
