Obituary of Eleanor M. (Grealish) Moore
Eleanor M. (Grealish) Moore 90, of Peabody, loving wife of the late Ronald E. Moore with whom she shared 30 years of marriage, died on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Beverly Hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Moore was born in Lynn on January 21, 1925, daughter of William and Margaret (Greeley) Grealish. She was raised in Lynn and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1943. During WWII, she was employed as a needle assembler for altimeter settings. She has made her residence in Peabody since 1961.
Mrs. Moore was a loving mother who devoted her life to creating a home for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was so proud of their accomplishments. Following her husband’s death in 1979, she had many jobs. She was most proud of the Senior Outfitters, a company she and her dear cousin Mary Jo King founded. She traveled extensively throughout the world with family members, was an avid Red Sox fan, bird watcher and an NPR addict.
Mrs. Moore is survived by her children and their spouses, Cynthia A. Moore of Peabody, Ronald F. and Deborah Moore of Beverly, Mary Susan and David Chiaradonna of Lynn, Janice E. and Robert Durkee of Gloucester, Christopher L. Moore and his husband William Rauch of Ashland, OR, and Lisa M. and Robert Fisher of Alexandria, VA, a daughter-in-law, Carole Moore of Topsfield; 13 grandchildren, Jesse, Allana, Reilly, David, Michelle, Julie, Christine, Liam, Xavier, Roxanne, Katherine, Samantha and Grace; 10 great grandchildren, Ciaran, Lorcan, Elijah, Rebecca, Lilith, Jacob, Arthur, Quintan, Maxwell and Abigail; a brother and his wife, Francis and Mary Grealish of FL, and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her son Kevin J. Moore.
Her family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. As per Eleanor’s request a private family service will be held. Eleanor was very proud of her daughters’ achieving advanced degrees and in lieu of flowers she would like to continue her support of girls' education by having donations sent to New Venture, Attn: The Malalafund, www.malala.org , 1201 Connecticut Ave., N.W., Suite 300, Washington DC, 20036.
