Obituary of Donald A. Lovett

Donald A. Lovett 84, of Peabody, loving husband of the late Pamela M. (MacGowan) Lovett with whom he shared 52 years of marriage, died on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 with his family by his side at the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington. Donald was born in Wallingford, CT on June 17, 1930, son of the late John D. and Alma W. (Besse) Lovett. He was raised in Plymouth, MA and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1948. On October 21, 1948, he enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served as an airplane electrician 3rd class, was awarded the Korean Service Medal and was honorably discharged on October 14, 1952. He then pursued his education at Burdett College School of Business where he received an Associates Degree in Sales Management. During his 40 year working career, Donald was employed as an accountant with a few technology companies, and retired in 1995 from Vaisala Inc. in Woburn where he had been employed for several. He was also a book collector, an avid reader, enjoyed making crossword puzzles, and caring for his vegetable garden. Donald is survived by 2 daughters and their spouses, Allison M. and Douglas Desautell, and Alexandra K. and Mark Olson all of MA; 3 grandchildren, Douglas, Parker and Cameron Desautell all of MA; a sister, Patricia McNeil of MA, and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the West Congregational Church, 27 Johnson Street, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Donald’s name to the West Congregational Church Memorial Fund, www.westchurchpeabody.org , 27 Johnson St., Peabody, MA 01960.
